Starbucks just added a jolt to a morning cup of java. The jolt is not from some exotic Central American or African brew. This bounce is not due to an extravagant aromatic coffee bean. The added sway does not come from what is in the cup. It’s what is written on the cup and what the Starbuck’s server says to you when you pick up your cup of java that is jerking Americans awake.

Justice in the Round
Justice in the Round, what is it, what does it look like and how can it be obtained? These are the sub-themes of the 155 page book I recently authored. The book, Justice in the Round debuts 4 April 2015, on the 47th Anniversary of the Assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The pages of Justice in the Round spilled out onto the streets of Ferguson, Missouri last week. The last two paragraphs in Justice in the Round accurately and prophetically warn of events like the mass demonstration held in front of the Ferguson Police Department. This demonstration ended in gunfire. The presumption is the gunfire came from members of the public. The gunfire seriously wounded two Ferguson police officers.
Why Not Joe?
Joe Biden has stood behind President Obama the last six years in every crisis from reviving the economy, to immigration reform, gay marriage, negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, the war in Iraq and health care reform. Photo Credits: upi.com
A conversation from a far region in the back of my mind:
Is Hillary the One?
Is Hillary the one? Is Hillary Rodham Clinton the one? Is she? If she is, what makes her the one?
Ever since losing a bruising political campaign to Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination in 2008, Hillary has been running for president. Her husband Bill, the 42nd President of the United States, secured her intentions to seek a place on the 2016 ticket by campaigning for President Obama in 2012.
Never Be Traitors in U. S. Senate
There should never be traitors in the U. S. Senate. There should never be traitors in the U. S. Senate, sung to the tune of the SAE ditty.
This should be the anthem of all red blooded Americans. We should not tolerate any treasonous acts from members of Congress. It does not matter if the traitor is the Speaker of the United States House of Representative or 47 Republican Senators with the proverbial “hard on” for the President of the United States.
Racism on the Brain
Racism on the brain is a disease. It affects many erstwhile well adjusted white people. Racism on the brain is a curable disease. I think President Barack Obama should issue a challenge to the nation to eradicate racism on the brain.
He should boldly declare this goal like President John F. Kennedy boldly charted the nation on a mission to the moon within the decade of the 1960s.
Selma Emotionally Moving
Selma, emotionally moving!
Fifty years later, Selma is as emotionally moving, as that Bloody Sunday many years ago. I was twelve years of age back then. I had survived a decade of the Jim Crow south on a farm in central Georgia. My family was a few years removed from the farm. Yet city life did not bring about much change in the way the ruling society related to us.
Obama connect dots
Obama connect dots. Standing at the apex of the Edmund Pettus Bridge, President Barack Obama connect dots. He made the case for restoring the 1965 Voting Rights Act. This bridge, which bears the name of a Confederate General made the perfect backdrop for President Obama to connect these dots.
“This speech,” my 86 year-old mother called to say to me, “will be repeated for years to come by the children, just like Martin Luther King, Jr.’s, ‘I have a dream’ speech.”

Wheeler New ITC President
The Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) presented, Rev. Edward L. Wheeler, Ph.D, as it new president this week. Wheeler was named the new ITC president in a press conference called by the Board of Trustees for the 57 year old theological seminary.
Wheeler will become the 10th president when he assumes his full-time duties as the new ITC President in April. He was lured out of retirement to address issues currently facing the ITC seminary. He comes to this position with an impressive resume.
