Cascade Publishing House is here for writers. We exist to assist new writers in getting their work published.
In 2011 Harold Michael Harvey formed Cascade Publishing House to publish his works and the works of other authors who feel more comfortable in a small publishing setting. At that time Harvey had published a novel of southern intrigue with a small traditional publisher entitled Paper Puzzle.
When he grew tired of this arrangement, drawing on his years as a practicing attorney, he negotiated himself out of the contract, organized CPH, hired his wife Cynthia and sister-in-law Patricia Marsh as senior editors and republished Paper Puzzle, (Second Edition, Cascade Publishing House, Atlanta, 2011). This book continues to sell well after nine years on the market.
In 2015 CPH published its second book by Harvey, a nonfiction book, Justice in the Round: Essays on the American Jury System, (Cascade Publishing House, Atlanta, 2015). It’s April 4, 2015, coincided with the 47th anniversary of the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This book was inspired by and dedicated to unarmed Black men killed by police officers around the country.
Dr. Charles Steele, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, in 2016, turned to Cascade Publishing House to publish his first book, Easier to Obtain Than to Maintain: The Globalization of Civil Rights, (Cascade Publishing House, Atlanta, 2016).
Ruby J. Simon, a retired elementary school teacher, selected CPH to publish her history on the Black community in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Simon’s book, Big Bend: Where the Tide Rolls Around Tuscaloosa, (Cascade Publishing House, Atlanta, 2017), explores the rich cultural heritage of the Black Warrior River centuries before Alabama football became the single motif when people think of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Big Bend is due out in November 2017.
Next up for CPH is Valinda Johnson’s nine-day inspirational book, Thus Far the Lord Has Kept Us, (Cascade Publishing House, Atlanta, 2017).
Harvey’s third book, Freaknik Lawyer, is his best work to date (Cascade Publishing House, Atlanta, 2019.
