Greg “Goody” Goodwin and Tim Goodrum Pen Books on Baseball and Life
Cascade Publishing House is excited to announce it has reached terms with two first-time authors, Greg “Goody” Goodwin and Tim Goodrum. Both books have a baseball thread and will be among Cascade’s summer releases.
Greg Goodwin, known as “Goody,” by his friends, is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a descendant of J. H. Goodwin, who survived the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
“Son, you write with a wicked pen. I just wish I could get you on my side.” K. B. Young, Dean of Students at Tuskegee Institute, once said to future Award-winning author, Harold Michael Harvey.
The year was 1973. Harvey, a political science major, wrote a weekly column in the Campus Digest, the student newspaper, and defended students before the Institute’s Judicial Board.
Award-winning journalist and political pundit Harold Michael Harvey has captured his first literary award, a Bronze Medal for his memoir Freaknik Lawyer: A Memoir on the Craft of Resistance. We are excited to announce that Harold Michael Harvey has won a bronze medal from the Living Now Book Awards in the category of male memoirs for his work Freaknik Lawyer: A Memoir on the Craft of Resistance ( Cascade Publishing House, Atlanta, 2019).
Harvey’s book will be featured next year in the Awards section at the prestigious BookExpo America 2021. His novel Paper Puzzle received similar exposure at BookExpo America 2011.

Vivian, an iconic civil rights leader and Harvey were neighbors for 27-years until Vivian’s transition in July 2020. They often shared private dinners where Vivian mentored Harvey and shared his innermost thoughts on various events that occurred during the civil rights era.

In 1962, Harold Michael Harvey was a 12-year-old with an insatiable appetite for reading books. He liked baseball and rocks. He loved reading books about baseball and rocks.
When he had read all the books in his mother’s library at home, and in the library at Eugenia Hamilton Elementary School, he asked his mom if she would take him to the library on Washington Avenue. He wanted to check out a book on Willie Mays, one of his favorite baseball players.
