“I was not sure of the reception from my hometown,” Harold Michael Harvey, author of Freaknik Lawyer, said. He had just finished reading a passage from his memoir to a gathering of Maconites at the historic Douglass Théâtre.
Harvey’s memoir on the craft of resistance is an intimate portrayal of his life coming of age in Macon, first during Jim Crow, and later during integration.

On Saturday, September 21, 2019, from 6-9pm at the Douglass Theatre in Macon, Georgia, the older man will read from his memoir Freaknik Lawyer about the horror he felt that day, 54 years ago.
“I grew up a lot my first day at school with white kids,” Harvey said.

The historic Douglass Theatre in Harvey’s hometown, Macon, Georgia, will serve as the venue for the book launch party on September 21, 2019, from 6:00 pm-9 pm. The public is invited to come out and greet its native son.

Following Harvey’s presentation, he will autograph his third book, Freaknik Lawyer: A Memoir on the Craft of Resistance.
Freaknik Lawyer, the third book authored by Harold Michael Harvey debuted two weeks ago. The book is subtitled A Memoir on the Craft of Resistance (Cascade Publishing House, Atlanta, 2019).
Harvey starts his memoir on the day before his birth. As is his unique writing style, Harvey weaves the present with the past, pushing the readers to create a better future than the past or the present.
Cascade Publishing House announced today that the Limited First Edition of Freaknik Lawyer: A Memoir on the Craft of Resistance closes at midnight tonight, June 30.
“We have had a successful campaign,” Cyn Harvey, President of Cascade Publishing House said.
