Kyle Miyata Larson is an enigma. He is an American professional stock car racing driver, one of a few Asian American athletes in what is mostly a white man’s sport. His mother, Janet Miyata Larson, is an American of Japanese descent. Her parents were rounded up and imprisoned as if they were enemy combatants by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt at the beginning of World War II. His father, Michael Larson, is an American of European origins. He taught his son the stock car racing trade.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp shook up the world, well at least the country, with his recent announcement that he was opening Georgia back up for business.
What is behind Kemp’s move. Georgia has not flattened the proverbial coronavirus curve.
Why open Georgia up now?
First, to answer this question, we have to take a look at the type of businesses Kemp fails to give the green light to open its doors to the public. Banks, schools, and major manufacturing industries are to remain closed. This group of businesses represents the larger employers of middle-class workers in the state, workers with some form of built-in safety net for hard times.

Finally, the big reveal has come to conservative Americans. Protesters in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Florida marched over the weekend to voice their opposition to shelter in place measures designed to flatten the curve of Coronavirus 2019 incidences in the country.
The demonstrators took to the streets at the urging of Donald Trump, the titular head of the Republican Party, and the current occupant of the White House. In recent tweets, Trump encouraged his base supporters to invade the streets of American and demand Democratic governors to open up their states for business.
I believe the sheltering in place edict has made me a more productive, if not a more creative, writer. Maynard Eaton, a fellow journalist, remarked to me the other day that I have been very productive and innovative in the past few weeks. It dawns on me that he is right. I have cranked out an article a day for the past sixteen days.
Congressman John Lewis (D) Georgia, the last surviving speaker from the 1963 March on Washington, gave the nod to former Vice President Joe Biden in the upcoming Georgia Presidential Preference Primary.
The Georgia primary was initially scheduled for March 24 but was pushed back to May 19, 2020, due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Lewis’ announcement made it clear that he is riding with Biden clear into the November General Election.
On the 52 Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the organization he co-founded in 1957, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, called for the federal government to pay reparations to descendants of people enslaved in the country.
Slavery began on these shores twelve years after the colonial period began when a shipload of enslaved Africans docked at Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619. One hundred and sixty-eight years later ( 1787), when the framers of the constitution met in Philadelphia to charter a new government under the name selected back in 1776 by Thomas Jefferson, as the United States of America, slavery was all but codified. Enslaved Africans were considered the property of any white man — or white woman through inheritance — who could afford to own them.
Down in tiny Albany, Doughtery County, Georgia, 837 people have tested positive for Coronavirus, 32 of whom died after contracting the virus as of 1:05 pm on Friday, April 3, 2020 (See https://www.phoebehealth.com/patients-and-visitors/coronavirus/coronavirus-update).
Of the 176 Georgians who have died from this respiratory disease, Albany’s 32 deaths are more than Atlanta’s 23 as of Thursday evening, April 2, 2020 (See https://www.ajc.com/news/breaking-news/breaking-coronavirus-cases-top-georgia-163-deaths-reported/3jRQEx8o1JUecocEVUz9KO/).
Times are unusual. The current worldwide crisis has affected every profession that employs workers. From bartenders, stockbrokers, lawyers, women working the oldest trade, and writers sitting in their offices or homes churning out stories that entertain and enlighten us, all have to rethink how they do what they do.
