Stillman College Sweep Morehouse 5-0 and 6-2

Stillman College baseball team handed first year coach, Terrance Whittle his first victory as head of the Stillman baseball program. The Tigers of Stillman shut-out the Morehouse Maroon Tigers 5-0 behind a super pitching performance from Shawn Vowell.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Morehouse dugout shouted jeers towards Vowell on the mound. His cheeks became flushed and the six foot five inch 200 pound right hander from Birmingham took the jeers personally. read more

HBCUs Face Trouble In Trump Era

HBCUs are in trouble. On the last day of the recently concluded campaign to select the nation’s 45th President, Barack Obama, President No. 44, took to the airwaves to exhort African Americans to get out and vote for Hillary Clinton.

He appeared on the Tom Joyner Morning Show. Joyner, a graduate of Tuskegee University, hosts annual scholarship drives. He donates the proceeds to HBCUs. The President jokingly told Black voters that if Donald Trump was elected President he was “coming after Michelle’s garden.” He followed this joke with what seemed like another joke. He said that Trump needed to be defeated because the Historically Black Colleges and Universities would be in trouble if Trump was elected. read more

The Bern was in “The House” on Tuesday this week. “The House” is Morehouse College. For years students and alumni have affectionately dubbed it as simply “The House.” The welcome mat was laid out for Bernie Sanders, affectionately named “The Bern” by a host of loyal followers and supporters of his chaotic run for the White House. read more
