Freaknik Lawyer, the third book authored by Harold Michael Harvey debuted two weeks ago. The book is subtitled A Memoir on the Craft of Resistance (Cascade Publishing House, Atlanta, 2019).

Harvey starts his memoir on the day before his birth. As is his unique writing style, Harvey weaves the present with the past, pushing the readers to create a better future than the past or the present.

Although this work is a factual account of Harvey’s life, neatly tucked inside the pages of this tome are golden nuggets of our collective history which are relatable in the current age.

“We started shipping books two weeks ago,” Harvey said, “then this past weekend we began to receive text messages from readers around the country that they had received their copy.”

Newton Collier, a musician in Harvey’s hometown of Macon, Georgia wrote to say, “You nailed it!  Thanks for getting this message out. Great book, keep up the exemplary work brother.”

Fellow Maconite, Will Butler texted the author to say, “Guess what I am diving into this morning. It’s a good read thus far. It’s hard to put down!”

Atlanta native Walt Bercy packed it for reading material on a flight across the country. He nearly finished the book on his four-hour flight. “I hated to reach my destination because I had to put the book down to deplane. When I reached my destination, I finished it. One thing I can tell you is the Harveys are real crusaders,” Bercy said.

Elizabeth Hampton in New Jersey pledged to write a review when she finishes. Her late father Chuck Hampton reviewed Harvey’s two previous books, Paper Puzzle and Justice in the Round.

Teresa Wade, an airline employee zipped through the 220 pages and exclaimed, “After the first few pages, I was hooked. The book is full of amazing historical gems.”

Dr. Merchuria Chase Williams, an Atlanta theologian, picked up a copy to read on her August flight from Atlanta to South Africa.

“I am amazed at the response we have received thus far. I poured my spirit into this work, but the writer never knows who is sitting in the pews, so to speak, or if the effort will resonate with those who take the time to show up,” Harvey said.
