Why Take Pension Away From Career Civil Servant Andrew McCabe?

I just don’t get it. What lurks within the heart of a government official who would take away the pension of a civil servant who gave more than 20 years of his life to the government?

It makes no sense to me. Simply cold and heartless is about all I can make of Attorney General Jeff Sessions move to fire Andrew McCabe two days before his full pension vests.

McCabe in January had taken a leave of absence from his post as Deputy Attorney General to get ahead of an impending Inspector General report that he feared would be critical of his performance in the handling of Hillary Clinton’s email matter and the Russian investigation.

He was wise to do so. The Inspector General report recommended that McCabe be fired.

In spite of this recommendation, I believe that McCabe’s willingness to leave his job through retirement accomplished the objective of the Inspector General’s recommendation.

For Sessions to fire McCabe to prevent him from obtaining his full pension goes beyond the pale. Especially, in light of the fact that last year President Trump pardoned Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the former Maricopa County, Arizona sheriff . Arpaio was convicted of criminal contempt when he refused to obey a court order over an immigration issue.

While Arpaio, who boldly flaunted the law is now eligible to run for congress, McCabe is unable to fully provide for his family after two decades in public service.

McCabe problems began when he testified before a congressional committee that he could corroborate the conversation between Trump and former FBI Director James Comey which led up to Comey’s firing.

Finally, Sessions fires someone that Trump wanted him to fire. In doing so, he has lit an accelerate that is sure to burn a pathway back to the White House when Special Counsel Robert Mueller gets his ducks in a row.
