All Trump Tweets Are Not Newsworthy

Is it time for the mass media to stop following the midnight tweets of DJT?

This may come as a shock to many in the mainstream news media. I really hate to tell them this obvious fact: All Trump tweets are not newsworthy.

Certainly, DJT is the President of the USA, but everything uttered by way of the twitter feed @realDonaldTrump is not worthy to be included in a 24-hour news cycle.

For instance, what if DJT tweeted (and he just might do this any day now), the events of his most recent visit to the comfort facilities in the Oval Office. Maybe in the same vein as President Lyndon B. Johnson, who had a penchant for having the White House photographer shoot pictures of him on the executive throne, while he conversed with cabinet officials.

Does such presidential blather rise to the level of being dissected  and analyzed in a 24-hour news cycle?

Hopefully, the mass media would shield us from the morbid details of such a tweet. I would like to think that no news professional on the national scene would provide continuous coverage of such tweets from The Donald.

If I am correct in this assumption, then why in Heaven’s name do the purveyors of news at NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC and CNN think they have to divert their attention from real news to chase the next absurd presidential tweets into the abyss.

I simply can not understand how people whose jobs are to determine what is news continue to fall for the tweets of DJT.

Especially considering the fact that journalists will admit on national television that they would rather be talking about the issues confronting the nation than the silly and nonsensical tweets coming from the White House in the wee hours of the morning.

If you are on a television news set and it is your job to bring the news to the public, then start doing your job by keeping the spotlight on the issues that matter to the American people and away from the selfish things that matter to the occupant of the White House.

I have observed that most of the liberal news outlets tend to agree that there is a bit of the bully in Trump’s personality. One thing that is akin to all bullies is that they love attention. Usually, when they can not get the attention they seek, they either go away or do some obnoxious thing that ostracizes themselves from the community.

As The Great Bard on the Thames River might have queried: “To cover Trump’s tweets or not to cover his tweets, that is the question.”

The news cycle does not have to follow these tweets. Remember Donald J. Trump does not want the media, but he needs them. All the media has to do to make the Trump tweets go away is not report them.

Keep the spotlight on the issues because in the end all that the American people care about is resolving the consequences the issues have on their lives.
